A highlight of the year and a place to find sanctuary from the continued negative press that the playing figures & the game of golf receives. I have come away from the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, a little fitter, a little wiser and truly inspired by this great industry that I am privileged to work in. I’m not pretending it is all a bed of roses but when you get to meet with so many like-minded people who are equally as passionate about the sport, their products, their brand – I don’t see how you can fail to come away from the show feeling just a little more motivated to achieve more.

For Medi8, we worked with our clients that were exhibiting, BIG MAX, Golf Buddy & ZOOM, to showcase all the great new product releases for 2017. In particular the BIG MAX Blade Quattro, GolfBuddy WTX & brand new glove brand ZOOM were the stand out products. Although not exhibiting this year, we were pleased to hear such positive feedback about Lamkin’s new Z5 grips.

American Golf also attended the show and it was through meetings with their event partners that we found that there is a real anticipation of what American Golf are going to produce from their events programme this year. We met with Provision Events who are going to produce a truly interactive show for American Golf. Also, Golphin for Kids bring innovation to the table that goes beyond their clubs (More details soon).

From a personal level and what got me most excited was the Women’s Golf Day seminar – a great opportunity to give the women’s game a platform. It may seem a bit clichéd and many people may be fed up of women this, women that but it is great that there are people out there volunteering to have a Worldwide golf day to show women just how great the sport is. David MacLaren, Head of the European Senior Tour, hit the nail on the head for me – “Only 16% of golfers in the UK are female, we shouldn’t look at these figures as negative but as an opportunity”.

So after that eureka moment and the infectious fun coming from the guys on the Twisted Frog stand, I intend to grab every opportunity and work with others to make as many weeks as possible feel like the buzz you get when you leave the Orange County Convention Centre after a successful week spent at the PGA Show.
