Flare Clothing design bespoke jerseys for Forces

Nottingham, United Kingdom: Since launching its custom design service earlier this year, the Mountain Bike clothing manufacturer Flare Clothing Company has been working with teams and individuals across the UK to give them their own dash of Flare. One of the most recent projects has been to design jerseys in conjunction with Captain Neil Beattie Secretary for Tri Service Sport Scotland Mountain Biking.

The brief was to design three different kits, one for Tri Service Sport Scotland, a full MTB and Road kit for the 7SCOTS Team and finally Gruffalo and Buffalo team jerseys for its competitors in the Strathpuffer race. “I was incredibly impressed with the designs that Hannah pulled together with a very limited brief,” explains Captain Beattie. “It was important to have the design reflect the 3 Services of the Army, RAF and Royal Navy in Scotland and incorporate the Combat Stress Logo, the Forces Mental Health Charity and our sponsors, Avenue 4 Forces, the Ex Forces Recruitment Specialists and Leslie Bike Shop in Glenrothes who have supported the Forces Mountain Bike and Road Bike community in Scotland.”

Tri Services Custom Kit

The Tri Service Logo and the lion were important elements for creating the final design The motto of the battalion’s emblem is incorporated into the Jersey designs

The team will wear the custom Flare kit in competition rides including the Strathpuffer next January but also during their work with Combat Stress, a charity that is using MTB to aid mental and physical recovery for veterans.

Flare Clothing’s Creative Director, Hannah Myers, who designed the pieces herself, particularly enjoyed giving very traditional, well known colours and images a modern twist, “I’ve really enjoyed working on the Tri Service project. The lion is such a strong, emotive symbol and really reflects the character of the team, so I decided to make it a prominent feature in the design. The navy, red and sky blue colour combination is very traditional, so it was a challenge to use them as the base colours and still give them a contemporary feel, but I’m delighted with the outcome.”

This new service has already been used by several teams and individuals including Roots MTB team and Pure Mountains with fantastic results. Companies, teams or individuals interested in working with Hannah should email custom@flareclothingco.com
