As Jordan Spieth steps up to defend his title in Augusta, American Golf will be inviting golfers and non-golfers across the UK & Ireland to enter what is now the country’s biggest long drive event. With a driving average of 294.4, this could be your one and only chance to beat Spieth at his own game!

Now in its second year, the American Golf Long Drive Championship is one of golf’s most recent success stories. As no experience is required, thousands of people took part in the qualifying events last year. Ultimately the event unearthed some incredible new talent as Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf explains,

“This event has always been about unlocking people’s potential and discovering future stars. Last year, two of our winners, Rebecca McGinley and Steve Kent, had never competed in a Long Drive event before. This event can really change people’s lives so we encourage anyone to come along and give it your best 3 shots.”

All of American Golf’s 106 stores will host qualifying events over the weekend of the Masters, 8th – 10th April. The longest drivers in men’s under 45s, men’s over 45s and ladies’ categories will make it through to the Regional Finals, with a winner from each category getting through to the Grand Final at the American Golf National Academy at High Legh, Cheshire on 19th August.

Dan Konyk, the 2015 under 45s winner and Long Drive professional will be returning to High Legh to defend his title alongside Rebecca McGinley and over 45s winner Steve Kent. To find out how Dan and Rebecca outdrive the competition, watch their tips on American Golf’s YouTube channel:
